REBEL ART. Reinterpreting the art, the poetics and the contexts of Vorticism
REBEL ART ist eine philologische Dissertation über den Vortizismus, deren Ziel es ist, ein differenziertes Bild dieser englischen Avantgardebewegung zu zeichnen. Der Vortizismus wird hier im Hinblick auf seine künstlerischen und theoretischen Erträge untersucht. Europäische Einflüsse kommen ebenso zur Sprache wie britische Kontexte, außerdem wird gezeigt, inwieweit der Vortizismus in psychologischem umd auch in politischem Gedankengut wurzelt. Die vorliegende Arbeit widerspricht insbesondere denREBEL ART ist eine philologische Dissertation über den Vortizismus, deren Ziel es ist, ein differenziertes Bild dieser englischen Avantgardebewegung zu zeichnen. Die vorliegende Arbeit widerspricht insbesondere den reduktionistischen Deutungen, die die allzunaheliegende Strategie verfolgen, den Vortizismus auf eine Parole oder einige wenige plakative Schlagworte zu reduzieren. Das entworfene Bild des Vortizismus gestaltet sich komplexer, damit aber auch problematischer. Vortizismus wird hier verstanden als eine Avantgardebewegung, die reich war an Potentialen, dabei aber auch in sich äußerst heterogen, ja gespannt und vielleicht gerade deshalb zu ihrem frühen Zusammenbruch verurteilt.…
REBEL ART is a philological dissertation discussing the English avantgarde named Vorticism. This work aims to give a detailed and differentiated discussion of this movement by investigating its art and its theory, as well as the European and the British contexts that inspired it. Furterhmore it examines in how far Vorticism integrated modern psychological theories and whether or not it should be considered a political movement. This approach fundamentally disagrees with reductionist interpretatiREBEL ART is a philological dissertation discussing the English avantgarde named Vorticism.
